Harlequin launches new Adblue Storage range at FPS2007

Storage tank manufacturer Harlequin, has officially launched its new range of bulk Adblue Storage and Dispensing Tanks at the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers’ 2007 Conference & Exhibition in Telford, Shropshire.
 
A solution comprised of urea and purified water, ‘Adblue’ is used as an exhaust treatment on current generation and next generation commercial vehicles, incorporating Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. When injected into the hot exhaust manifold of a commercial vehicle, Adblue breaks-down into Ammonia and reacts with exhaust gases in the presence of a catalytic converter, converting environmentally damaging oxides of Nitrogen into harmless Nitrogen and water.
 
Harlequin’s new ‘Blue Station’ range, has been designed especially for the storage of Adblue solutions and is the result of an intensive, three year development programme.
 
“From the outset, we’ve recognised that Adblue is a specialist chemical that requires specialist containment.”, says Harlequin’s John Switzer. “Even slight impurities can irreparably damage the expensive catalytic converters fitted to modern, commercial vehicles. Working closely with partners across the EU, we have developed a ‘closed cell’ approach to the storage and dispensing of Adblue. The result is a system which is fully compliant with the most demanding ISO and European CEFIC  requirements and ensures the stored solution remains at all times, within strict, predetermined parameters.”
 
To optimise product performance, pre-production Harlequin Blue Stations have been subject to a rigorous 27,000 hour test and performance regime. 
 
“The Blue Station range is the result of considerable investment by Harlequin in research and product development technologies. However, there is ultimately no substitute for real world, field based performance measurement and assessment. As well as on-site testing, the Blue Station concept has been thoroughly appraised at locations in both the UK and Scandinavia. The fluid delivery system fitted to the Blue Station range has also been independently tested and assessed at a leading German research laboratory, and is certified as being inherently suitable for use with Adblue solutions. Harlequin is the first UK tank manufacturer to openly publish test data, providing Adblue users with further peace of mind and reassurance and assisting them in making an informed product choice.”
 
In addition to producing a product that is inherently fit for purpose, Harlequin engineers have succeeded in producing a product that is easy to install, easy to use and is bristling with ‘surprise and delight’ features.
 
John explains, “Every Harlequin Blue Station incorporates integral bunding as standard, together with a high performance electric pump; the proven, Apollo electronic liquid level monitor; spillage detector; internal bulkhead light; chemical grade venting system; pressure relief valve; forced air extraction system; non-drip dispensing nozzle; and an insulated primary storage container. To ensure the integrity of the stored solution, all wetted components fitted to Harlequin Blue Stations are manufactured from either chemical grade stainless steel or advanced, specialist engineering polymers.
 
“A range of product options are also available including a high performance, thermostatically controlled heating system; vehicle impact protection systems; a choice of pump capacities and voltages; together with a range of models from 2,500 litres to 10,000 litres capacity.”, says John.
 
Launched at FPS2007, the Blue Station range will be shortly available from designated Harlequin Resellers throughout the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Denmark and France. The new Blue Station range complements Harlequin’s existing product portfolio, which includes ‘Basic’ and ‘Advance’ Single Skin Tanks for the storage of heating oil and water; Standard and stone effect ‘Polyrock’ Bunded Tanks for the storage of heating fuel and speciality chemicals; ‘Fuel Stations’ and ‘Fuel Points’ for the storage of diesel fuel; and the company’s market leading ORB range of waste oil wells.
