Busy fortnight ahead for OFTEC and supporting Members

16th February 2007

OFTEC The Oil Firing Technical AssociationThere’s less than a fortnight to go until OFTEC and supporting members kick off their 2007 tour of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, with the first Oil Heating Show of 2007 set for Wednesday 28 February at the Kent Showground, Detling near Maidstone.

Supported and sponsored by OFTEC Members, the trade-only events allow oil heating technicians to catch up with the very latest new product developments and to speak directly to oil equipment manufacturers. In attendance will be equipment manufacturers – large and small – including Anglo Nordic, Carbery Plastics, Danfoss, Ecoflam, EOGB, FEL Valves, Firebird UK, GAH, Grant, Heating World, RAW Consulting, Teddington Controls, Titan and Worcester Bosch.

Additionally, there is an opportunity for installers to question OFTEC representatives directly, about the seemingly ever-changing world of standards and regulations, together with what OFTEC is doing – or (perhaps dependent upon your point of view) not doing – to look after the interests of oil heating technicians throughout the British Isles.

Admission is free to oil heating installers, oil equipment resellers and fuel distributors – in fact to anyone with an interest in the oil heating, cooking and storage industry.

Further Oil Heating Roadshows are planned throughout the United Kingdom in North West England, North Wales, Belfast, Yorkshire, Cambridge and Cornwall. Curiously this year however, OFTEC’s Oil Heating Show organisers appear to have left Scottish oil heating technicians firmly out in the cold, with no Shows whatsoever planned north of the ‘border’ in 2007. More recently, and an OFTEC Members' Open Meeting planned for Glasgow this Tuesday, was cancelled due to an apparent lack of interest from OFTEC Members.

The Kent Oil Heating Show is expected to draw visitors from across Kent and South East England. With a large attendance expected, pre-registration is advised.

Separately, and this weekend OFTEC is attending The Self Build Show in Belfast’s King’s Hall – one of a number of similar events that it will be attending during the course of 2007. With over 200 Exhibitors in attendance, the Belfast Self Build Show is one of the largest events of its kind to be held anywhere in the UK, with visitors expected from across Northern Ireland, the UK Mainland and the border counties of the Republic of Ireland.

Already Northern Ireland has amongst the highest levels of oil heating anywhere in the United Kingdom, with 3 out of 4 homeowners, choosing to heat their homes with oil. OFTEC representatives however will be on hand to further promote the oil message and to discuss the very latest developments in oil fired heating and cooking.

Visitors will also be able to take away OFTEC's new range of free Easy Guides, which highlight everything from the latest building regulations to safe oil storage, presented in an easy to understand format. Additionally, a small number of manufacturers will be displaying equipment on the stand including Gerkros, Titan and Ulster based Warmflow Boilers.

Doors open at The King’s Hall at 12 Noon on Friday 16 February 2007 and close at 6pm on Sunday 18 February 2007.
