Approved Tradesmen Websites See Marked Increase in Site Traffic Numbers

16th January 2013
TrustMark, a quality mark website for tradesmen, recorded its highest number of ‘tradesmen viewings’ on its website, with 3.9 million homeowners searching for local tradesmen in 2012 to carry out work on their home or garden.

The average number of viewings across all trades within the website increased by over 20% in 2012 compared to the same period in 2011. Heating engineers and plumbers saw a rise of 18% with October having the largest number of views primarily due to homeowners wanting urgent work on their properties as a result of the poor weather conditions.

All TrustMark firms’ technical skills have been independently checked through on-site inspections to ensure a high quality of workmanship and trading practices. TrustMark requires qualified inspectors to do these visits, so that technical competence is checked as well as business practices and customer satisfaction.

Similarly, the Harlequin manufacturer approved scheme, 'Tankmark', which is a quality mark website solely for heating and plumbing engineers, focusing on heating oil tank installations, has seen a 25% increase in website traffic to its site for 2012, versus 2011.

Tankmark technicians can only become a member of this invite-only scheme, by receiving a number of recommendations from local merchants and/or government bodies. They must each have relevant public and employee liability insurance, must operate within a strict code of practise and must have first rate customer service skills.

The rise in demand for websites such as Tankmark and Trustmark shows that in tough economic times, the public are much more concerned with having peace of mind on repair or installation work being carried out on their homes. By choosing an accredited installer, cash-strapped homes can rest assured that their work is guaranteed and has been carried out according to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
