Mother and Daughter Flee Antrim Oil Tank Blaze

A mother and daughter have escaped inury, after arsonists targeted a garden shed at the rear of their home in Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim. The fire which started at 2am this morning, subsequently spread to a domestic oil tank, causing minor damage to the property in Abbeyhill Way.
The women were alerted by former Irish League Footballer, Mark Glendinning who was awoken by his son, following the outbreak of the blaze.
A number of neighbouring homes were evacuated by Police Officers and members of the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service as a precautionary measure.
The incident comes less than a fortnight after two men in their twenties were charged with arson and intent to endanger life, following a blaze involving an oil tank at King Road in Newtownabbey.
