Harlequin previews Diesel and BioDiesel advances at FPS Expo

25th April 2008
Leading storage tank manufacturer Harlequin, has previewed two important new technologies on the company’s market leading range of Fuel Station Bunded Diesel Storage Tanks at FPS Expo, Dublin.
First launched in 2003, Harlequin’s Fuel Station range is today available in a choice of 4 capacities from 1400 litres to 10,100 litres and is purpose designed for the bulk storage and dispensing of diesel fuel at private installations. In 2007, Harlequin launched a range of BioFuel Stations, which build upon the success of the original Fuel Station range, but are manufactured from a specialist BioDiesel resistant polymer and suitable for use with BioDiesel blends of up to B100.
Supplied complete with the very latest diesel storage and dispensing technology as standard, Harlequin’s BioFuel Station and Fuel Station models are today established as the industry benchmark for the design and construction of dedicated diesel and biodiesel dispensing tanks. Typical applications include the storage of diesel on farms, at transport depots and at commercial premises for use with agricultural equipment, plant and commercial vehicles.
At FPS Expo, Harlequin previewed Fuel Stations and BioFuel Stations supplied complete with ‘run dry protection’ and a ‘filtration performance indicator’, which it expects to make available as options on Fuel Station and BioFuel Station models later this year.
“From the outset, we have sought to differentiate our Fuel Station and BioFuel Station product offering through the incorporation of features which make the product easier to use and easier to install.”, explains Marketing Manager, John Switzer.
“We were the first manufacturer in the UK to offer ‘plug and play’ electrical connections as standard; the first manufacturer to supply a 10 micron fuel filtration system as standard; and the first manufacturer to offer an integrated bulkhead light for cleaner, safer refuelling during the hours of darkness.
“At FPS Expo, we are previewing Fuel Stations incorporating run dry protection and a fuel filtration performance indicator. The run dry protection system has been developed in partnership with Atkinson Equipment. In the event that the tank becomes empty, the pump will automatically shut off – minimsing the risk of damage through operator error. The fuel filtration performance indicator allows operators to continually monitor the performance of the fuel filtration system which is fitted as standard to all Harlequin Fuel Stations and BioFuel Stations. Additionally and usefully, it provides an early warning of when a filter change may be required.”
John described the response from visitors to FPS Expo as “simply fantastic” and Harlequin expects to offer both run dry protection and filtration performance monitoring as an option on its Fuel Station and BioFuel Station products later this year, as part of the pioneering tank manufacturer’s commitment to continuous product development.
