OFTEC Celebrates Fifteen Years
15th September 2006
It’s been 15 years since the first technicians registered with The Oil Firing Technical Association. Today, there are now over 9,000 OFTEC registered businesses and technicians throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland. Over fifty OFTEC approved training centres provide all the latest oil related training courses.
OFTEC has introduced many initiatives over the last 15 years to support technicians, such as their well established competent persons scheme. In addition, the OFTEC works notification system allows technicians in England and Wales to notify their work either online or by fax, taking the hassle out of notifying building control.
OFTEC claims that Registered Rechnicians now have access to many benefits including comprehensive technical books and free technical support for registered technicians. An invaluable guide to oil heating and cooking, the technical books are currently being updated and re-launched, in conjunction with a series of brand new Easy Guides designed to inform and advise consumers about oil heating and cooking.
Recent developments have included the launch of a brand new consumer website to promote oil in addition to their comprehensive technical site. A comprehensive equipment directory is free to download, containing details of oil firing and associated equipment and any products which have gained OFCERT Licence approval.
Chief Executive, Richard Gales said “We are very proud to have been established for fifteen years, and will continue to promote oil heating and cooking to consumers whilst providing valuable support for technicians.”
