TankDepot.co.uk puts a lid on Oil Tank theft!
13th July 2008
Leading online oil tank supplier TankDepot.co.uk, has launched a new range of lockable lids and caps in response to recent reports of home heating oil, diesel and biodiesel being stolen from storage tanks across the United Kingdom.
Two products are available, designed to suit most Harlequin fuel oil tanks manufactured since 1997. The new 4” Lockable Inspection Cap can be fitted in minutes and is designed to accept a numeric or key activated padlock. Quick and easy to install, with no specialist tools required, the new lid acts as a useful deterrent against fuel theft and restricts entry through the 4” diameter inspection point fitted to all Harlequin tanks.
Complementing the new 4” Lockable Cap is a Lockable Oil Tank Fill Point Assembly. Manufactured from a specialist oil and corrosion resistant alloy, the Lockable Oil Tank Fill Point Assembly is also designed for use with a padlock and replaces the existing 2” diameter Fill Point, found on most Harlequin Single Skin and Bunded Heating Oil Tanks, together with the company's range of BioDiesel and Diesel Storage Tanks.
TankDepot.co.uk’s Steve Beech says, “Whilst fuel thefts remain the exception, in light of today’s historically high energy prices, consumers understandably wish to protect the fuel stored inside their oil tank. Lockable lids and caps in themselves will not eliminate the issue of fuel theft, but they will act as a useful deterrent.
“These new lockable caps and lids not only restrict entry to an oil storage tank, but can deter opportunistic fuel theft and cost only a fraction of the value of the fuel stored inside even a small, home heating oil tank. And whilst both products have been designed primarily for fitting to Harlequin tanks, usefully they will also suit some models supplied by other oil tank manufacturers.”
Both items are now available to order online from the TankDepot.co.uk website, which also contains information of product compatibility and downloadable technical data sheets and product installation instructions.
