OFTEC announces 2008 Awards for Excellence
OFTEC: The Oil Firing Technical AssociationOnce again the search is on to reward excellence in oil heating and cooking. But this year, the Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) has added new categories to it’s prestigious Awards for Excellence.

New for 2008, OFTEC is looking for the most green initiative of the year. The category is open to entries from OFTEC member companies who have come up with environmentally friendly products or services for the oil heating and cooking industry.

OFTEC Director General, Jeremy Hawksley, said ‘we feel it’s time for a change, and in particular the green initiative award reflects the move towards more environmentally friendly technologies such as the use of liquid biofuels for home heating.’

There are also two new awards for marketing campaign and company of the year. And for the first time OFTEC members will be able to sponsor individual award categories.

Other categories include oil tank installer, oil boiler installer, oil cooker/stove installer, service/commissioning engineer, and trainee of the year. All of which are open to OFTEC registered technicians who will have a chance to win a cheque for £500. There is also a category for training centres and one for oil distributors.

OFTEC members and registered technicians can download entry forms from www.oftec.org or call 0845 65 85 080. Alternatively, forms will be available at the OFTEC Oil Heating Shows which are taking place around the country including Norwich on 14th May and Carlisle on 18th June. The closing date for entries is June 30th.

The awards will be presented at a black tie dinner to be held at London’s Hotel Russell in early October.
